Jessie Ortiz was born in Cuenca, Ecuador, but immigrated to Minneapolis, Minnesota, at age five. She is a first-generation college graduate from St. Catherine University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Education K-12 with a concentration in Spanish.
As the oldest daughter and niece in her family, Jessie led the path and mentored her cousins and siblings to navigate the college process. As she navigated the college process on her own, she realized the disparity and challenges low-income, first-generation students face day-to-day. After college, Jessie wanted to give back to her community and provide her knowledge and support to students from often underserved communities as they explored their career and college options. Having worked in developing programming and curriculum for students in her previous role at College Possible, she is now excited to work with and offer direct student support again.
In her free time, Jessie has a small business in photographing and editing. She also loves going karaoke singing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jessie Ortiz serves as a 4-Year Scholar Advisor
